There seems to be a problem with, on the one side
Dormitus Brands, and on the other side
the ColecoVision Homebrew community.
It's about the name Coleco and ColecoVision, but also other thing are
involved.
Dormitus Brands complains over their name has been used on what they call
"nudity" in few games.
There is no "provocations" on those ColecoVision games, incidentally is
those games coded years before RWB acquired those Trademarks for profit.
After the failure with Coleco Chameleon, Dormitus Brands afterwards hired
Eduardo Mello at Opcode Games to help saving the project.
There were some contractual controversies, and Eduardo at Opcode Games
started his own project with a new platform, called the: Super Game
System.
Also an agreement about royality to Dormitus Brands for using the Coleco
Brand for the Super Game Module failed, and Eduardo at Opcode Games will
now use his own Opcode Games Brand.
Dormitus Brands can then not earn money on a Brand they don't own, and Dormitus
Brands felt badly treated.
So they attack 2 other upcoming Super Games, namely PMC DX and DKA.
The man behind Dormitus Brands says that Opcode Games attempt to issue 2
unlicensed ColecoVision Super Games as he always had permissions to without any problems.
The man behind Dormitus Brands will now get his revenge on this, and he
took contact to Nintendo and Namco and other Companies for complain.
But the answers was: "They does not wish to damage those relationships
or place itself in the middle of an intellectual property dispute."
So the ColecoVision community will find another solution for using the
word "Coleco" and "ColecoVision" in a particular font.
Opcode Games says he want to go ahead and create his own Brand and not using "Coleco" or "ColecoVision"
further in their font, but use "OpcodeVision" instead.
But Dormitus Brands is not ending yet, they now attack several
ColecoVision Facebook fan sites, and many people around the world are
angry over this person behind the "Coleco" and "ColecoVision" Trademark.
To understand all this, is it all about earning money, Dormitus Brands
buys up dead Brands and make money via licensing agreements.
But the discussion with the community is now taken up to a higher level,
where Dormitus Brands maybe can't make money of their "Coleco" or "ColecoVision"
Trademark.
The man behind the Trademark is currently in a process to self-destruct his
own trademarks for "Coleco" and "ColecoVision". -This
is worring.
